  1. I thought my text set collection went pretty well. It was tough at first to find more then just websites, but when I started to dig deeper, I realized how there are various outlets, tools, pictures, maps, etc. to spark a student's interest on a certain subject. I was able to find where Shakespeare lived, a critical analysis on his works, and even picture books that described his works as well. After I had compiled the text set collection as well, I started to see the various possibilities for lesson plans as well.

In terms of my lesson plans, I thought I came up with thorough and engaging lessons for the most part. I really wanted to focus on making the lesson interesting, but also still informational. I really liked the vocab lesson I put together. I thought the video I found would have been a perfect way to teach figurative language and tie it into how Shakespeare wrote. I think the written and reading lessons sort of went hand in hand, and I struggled a little to distinguish between the two. However, the reading lesson would have been very educational, and the writing lesson was engaging in the fact that it allowed students for their own interpretation of Shakespeare's sonnets. I think if I could do it all over again, I would want to look more closer at the books I chose for the text collection just to get a better idea of what I would have used from them. Also, I would have tried to find better ways to accommodate students with special needs. Overall though, I enjoyed putting the lessons and texts sets together.

These projects helped me view texts in other areas, because I saw how many outlets their are to tie in ideas from various content areas. You can use a picture, magazine, article, video, etc to find a way for students to learn an idea in a certain subject. It also works when you tie in two subject areas, by using various typed of texts. I used to think it would be hard to make connections across subjects, but there is so much out there to allow this to happen. Teachers need to just take the time to think and find different types of texts to use for students.

    1. Tyler,
I thought that it was a little difficult to look up so many different websites for the text sets as well. It was great to find so many things that a teacher can use in their classroom! This text set activity really opened my mind and broadened my perspective on teaching content material through text sets. I definitely think that students will greatly benefit from this because it keeps their attention and provides many fun and different ways to present the material. What is even better, is that if one text idea does not seem to get across to the students, then there are other options available in the text set to use in order to try a different approach.

  2. I think that my text collection went really well! I really enjoyed this whole activity because it really brought insight as to what can be done in a classroom and as a teacher to get your points across. I did think it was hard looking up all the website ideas because sometime there is a lot on a science subject, and sometimes there is very little on a science subject.

Overall, I think that my infographic went really well. To be honest, I was super proud about it! It was really fun. I also think that my lesson plans went very well because everything was layed out perfectly with timed instruction. I thought I did well coming up with ideas to adapt to IEP students' needs. When I put the objectices of what I wanted my students to learn, it really helped guide me through the rest of the lesson plans. If I started to question myself or stray away from the subject, I would go back to my objectives and come back to tieing the information together.

I do not think that I would really change anything from this collection except to add more! Making a collection is all about combining ideas and material and putting it into one unit. I had so much fun with this, that I would definitely loved to have more project ideas to add to my collections.

This project definitely has changed my perspectives on texts in the classroom. I think having different types of content text and incorporating those into the classroom is vital to students' success. Not only does the different content texts give information, but they engage students in their learning and help them remember the material needed for upcoming exams.

    1. I agree that this project helped me see all of the possibilities for students to connect to information, and I also saw that it was hard to pick and choose what to include because there was so much. I am glad to see as well you found adaptations for students with special needs because that is where I struggled the most. I will have to look at your adaptations for future reference.

I will agree thought that the objectives helped organize and give direction for my lesson plans. It also helped me choose my materials and what was my purpose for my lesson. In addition, I liked my info graphic as well. I imagine hanging mine up in my future class.

Finally, I think the project really did show how we can connect material to students through different ways. As teachers we just need to find a way for students to relate.
